Our Story
After 18 years of being a landscaper and owning a landscape company. My focus led me to find more efficient ways to service my accounts saving my clients money, and myself labor and time. From our first product the KLOK-IT, designed to secure a sprinkler clock that "I" was contracted to control, to our most recent offerings, K-it products is dedicated to finding a faster, more efficient, and higher quality solutions to the needs of a sprinkler system's lifespan. Making contractors more efficient and saving homeowners thousands of dollars.
The Homegrown Idea
Like many big ideas, ours started small — right in our founder's own backyard. Kody Ketterling, who had spent years caring for lawns, was fed up with the hassles of sprinkler maintenance and other time-consuming yard tasks. He knew there had to be a cleaner, easier way.
Determined to streamline these daily chores and cut out the wasted effort, Kody began tinkering with solutions at home. That simple garage brainstorm soon grew into something bigger.
Founded in 2019
In 2019, Kody officially founded KJ Ketterling Enterprises (the parent company of K-IT Products) to bring his inventions to life. What began as a personal quest to "work smarter, not harder" was about to blossom into a family-run business dedicated to helping others do the same.

A Mission to Give You Time Back
Every K-IT product is designed with a simple yet profound goal: to give you your time back. This mantra became the heart of our mission – freeing people from tedious yard work so they can spend more time doing what they love.
"The Dash" Philosophy
In fact, the very name of our website's blog, "The Dash," is inspired by a poem by Linda Ellis about the dash that appears on a tombstone between one's birth and death dates. That little dash represents your life, and K-IT was born to make that life count.
Kody built our company around this philosophy: if we can save you time and hassle in your lawn care, you can spend that saved time making memories, helping others, and living your dash to the fullest.
Kody often asks himself and our team the big question: What do you want people to remember about your dash? In other words, "What's your K-IT?" – what's that one innovation or idea that could make life better for you and those around you?
For Kody, K-IT is his way of sharing that message. As he puts it, "K-IT is a catalyst for me to teach other people the K-IT philosophy... But it's not about me. It's about you." In that spirit, everything we do is about you – your time, your family, your yard, your story.

K-IT turned this heartfelt vision into a full lineup of innovative lawn care tools. Each product's name is a playful nod ending in "-IT," symbolizing a smart fix to a specific problem.

One of our rallying cries sums it up: "Elevate, don't excavate!!" Instead of digging up your lawn or busting your back, we find a better way.
Take our flagship Kap-IT Sprinkler Riser – it lets you elevate a sprinkler head without ever excavating a hole. This smart little cap was so effective that The Home Depot recognized it as a top innovation, noting that a professional landscaper might raise only 5 sprinkler heads an hour the old way, but with Kap-IT they can elevate around 20 heads per hour.
That four-fold boost in efficiency means less labor, less mess, and more time saved. It's innovation in action, and it's all driven by real-world needs Kody encountered in the field.
Each invention is created with the same goal Kody started with: to take the dirty work out of lawn care and make previously tedious tasks "quick and easy" for anyone. We even trademarked our guiding question, "What's Your K-IT?" because it's not just a slogan – it's an invitation to embrace smarter solutions in every project.

Family Roots and Future Growth
Building a business is never easy, especially during a global pandemic – yet the K-IT team met that challenge head-on. Kody launched K-IT as a family enterprise right around the start of the COVID‑19 pandemic, an uncertain time for any new venture.
Supply chain snags, material shortages, you name it – flexibility and creativity got us through. In fact, those early hurdles taught us to innovate not just in products but in how we manufacture and deliver them.
Fast-forward to today and K-IT is still proudly family-owned and operated. Kody's wife, siblings, and other family members play key roles on the team, and we've extended that family spirit by creating jobs in our hometown of Twin Falls, Idaho for folks who aren't related by blood but are 100% part of the K-IT family.

Water Conservation Mission
One of our ongoing goals is to contribute to green initiatives in water conservation. Living in the West, we understand how precious water is. That's why our products don't just save you effort – they help save water, too.
